Island Ferries is a family run business, providing the #1 boat trips in Howth. Mark, the owner, is a Master Mariner and Chief Engineer Officer, the only person in Ireland holding Dual Qualification. Mark has been touring Howth for nearly all his life, handling boats to the island at 9 years of age. In 2023, our company celebrated 20 years in business. From our best selling Ireland’s Eye Tour, we have grown to providing 3 cruises, including our original Howth Cliff Cruise and our renowned Sunset Cruise.
We are the only ferry company landing on Ireland’s Eye, giving you the opportunity to get off and explore the beautiful flora and fauna of the island. Our expert skippers have extensive knowledge of Ireland’s Eye, Howth Cliffs and everything in between, which is shared in the commentary on our tours.
Island Ferries provide a fun and safe environment for all the family. All our vessels are surveyed by the Department of Transport annually, and are fully licensed and insured. Our fully qualified crew undergo regular training in conjunction with STCW (Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping).
We depart from the Pontoon on the West Pier in Howth, opposite Aqua Restaurant. The eircode is D13H2V4.
Yes absolutely, we welcome dogs on board once they are kept on a lead. Dogs can also land on Ireland’s Eye but must be kept on a lead at all times as it is a Bird Sanctuary.
Our vessel MV Adam Patricia is wheelchair accessible. Please send us a message on social media or an email email@example.com to notify us if there is a wheelchair user in the booking.
The Ireland’s Eye Tour is a 35 minute trip around the island with in-depth commentary about the history of the island, the flora and fauna and more. Landing on the island is at the discretion of the captain depending on weather conditions. If landing is not possible, the tour around the island may still go ahead subject to conditions. Keep an eye on our social media for updates on landing.
We do accept walk ons subject to availability, however, we recommend booking online in advance.
Just yourself and your booking confirmation! We do advise wearing suitable footwear and a jacket/rain jacket.
If conditions are not favourable for sailing, you will be notified by our Captain in advance and the tour will be rescheduled.
Buggies can be left securely on the pontoon, and collected again at the end of the tour.
